Apogee (meaning ‘the pinnacle or highest point’) is our senior combined schools concert band ensemble. This ensemble is called upon to represent NT DoE (Department of Education) at key official functions and events. It is a prestigious and long established concert band with some of the NT’s highest achieving students as members. This ensemble also forms the nucleus of the Beat Festival Pit Orchestra.
Students need to be at a minimum of NTMS Level 2 or have started AMEB Grade 3 work and have a positive attitude toward learning in an ensemble setting. Students wishing to join should contact the NT Music School.
Rehearsals take place on Wednesday's from 3.30pm- 5.00pm, at the NTMS Facilities on the Sanderson Middle School Campus.
Government School students contribute to these costs through their school instrumental lesson registration. New ensemble students from Non-Government Schools are required to contribute $200 per year to participate in Northern Territory Music School Ensembles.
These funds will be used for costs associated with providing performance opportunities such as transport and venue hire costs.
Please note: All students will need to purchase an ensemble uniform shirt for performances - $35
