String Theory is an intermediate guitar ensemble offered by the Department of Education (DoE), through the Northern Territory Music School (NTMS), and is often called upon to perform at various functions throughout the year. In previous years the ensemble has performed at the Darwin Annual Guitar Concert, recorded live for the Top End Aboriginal Bush Broadcasting Association, at the Darwin Show, and as part of the Beat Festival forecourt program.
Government School students contribute to these costs through their school instrumental lesson registration. Ensemble students from Non-Government Schools are required to contribute $200 per year to participate in Northern Territory Music School Ensembles. These funds will be used for costs associated with providing performance opportunities such as transport and venue hire costs.
Please note: All students will need to purchase a t-shirt as the uniform for performances ($35).
Students need to be at a minimum of NTMS Level 1and have a positive attitude toward learning in an ensemble setting.
Rehearsals take place Thursdays from 3.30pm - 4.30pm, at the NT Music School on the Sanderson Middle School Campus.
