BEAT Festival - a nostalgic trip down memory lane 1979 - 2020! Part 1
To celebrate and acknowledge the hard work, commitment and dedication of students, teachers and schools around the Northern Territory over the years we have opened up our archives to bring together a collection that showcases the creativity, passion, teamwork, courage and talent of our young people (now and then) that have engaged in the BEAT. Please join us in a nostalgic trip down memory lane through a snippet of photos.
The BEAT is a unique event, involving students of all ages and stages, it demonstrates the Northern Territory’s rich cultural diversity and harmony. Many hundreds of performers have entertained us throughout the years. Some of which have gone on to pursue careers through the professional realms of the arts industry.
Since it first started in 1979 with the inaugural performance held in St. Mary’s and Christchurch Cathedrals, tens of thousands of Territory students, spanning generations, have participated in the annual BEAT Festival.
The BEAT would not be possible without the skill, experience and tireless effort of teachers, and the prioritisation of arts education by the NT Department of Education at all levels, principals, parents and schools, who all recognise the intrinsic value and fundamental importance of creativity and the arts in our lives.
Enjoy a trip down memory lane!
