Beat Festival 2026 - Traveller

Apogee are the NT Music School's advanced concert band, and they annually perform as the pit band of the Beat Festival. We are searching for an amazing guitarist and pianist to join our ensemble. An audition is required for entry into Apogee.

The NT Music School is seeking two outstanding student guitarists and keyboard players to join the Apogee Pit Band for the Darwin Beat Festival!

Auditions will be held at NTMS Sanderson on Mondays March 9 & 16 from 3pm – 4:45pm. Please click here to book your timeslot.

For the audition, students are asked to present

1)          One piece of their own choice – the panel will hear up to two minutes only, so please don’t prepare very long works. Your piece should demonstrate both melodic and chordal playing, and showcase your strong sense of time.

2)          One guitar/keyboard part from a previous Beat Festival – please download Gonna be My Day (piano) and April Sun In Cuba (guitar) here.

3)          Students will sight-read a short excerpt from another Beat Festival part in the audition.

Students are strongly encouraged to prepare for their audition under the guidance of their instrumental teachers (NTMS or private), and contact Apogee Directors Nick Yates & Anissa Hogbin with any questions.
